Dushore Founders Day Toilet Seat Painting Contest

Dushore Founders Day August 14, 2010

Competition is open to ages 16 and above; all artists, be they amateur, student or professional. Trophies & Monetary Prizes will be awarded day of Founders Day Activities.New this year: Two Divisions :GOLD and SILVER. Monetary prizes for both divisions: First place $25.00 Second place $15.00 Third place $10.00. That's 6 winners for 2010. Gold Division will be all past winners and those entries deemed at the accomplished level. Silver division is for student, amateur level painters. Winners will be decided by popular vote that day of the Outhouse Races. Please vote for your favorites!

ONLY the official white wooden seat provided may be entered. Pick up the Entry form & Seat from Jolly Trolley, Westside Deli, or JMB Supply. $10.00 Entry fee per seat entered.
FEE must be paid at time of PICKUP. Fill out entry form when you pick up official contest seat at Jolly Trolley, West Side Deli or JMB Supply. Or email Karen at kblackjmb@juno.com for a copy of entry form.

Proceeds from contest will be used to help promote and continue the Founders Day Children's Activities.

Entrants can submit as many times as they would like ($10 fee applies for each submittal). Official Seats can be shipped to entrant for the cost of shipping and handling plus entry fee if unable to pick up in person. Other seats cannot be substituted. Only entries painted on official seats will be accepted.

Seat artwork is to be created with some type of paint only. Textured paint will be allowed. No 3-D embellishments permitted. Stickers, rickrack, lace, seashells are not allowed. Artwork should be sealed with a waterproof layer as they will be displayed outside the day of the race rain or shine. All seats will be pre-judged as to meeting criteria of competition.
Artwork restrictions: no logos, brand names or any copyrighted images. No images of nudity or suggestive nature. Artwork degrading the human condition or depicting illegal acts or political references will also not be displayed or judged. This is a day of family and fun.

Seats not winning a prize will be auctioned off to help cover expenses of Dushore Founders Day at 6PM before the outhouse races.

Seats DO NOT have to depict out houses or a historical scene. Seats DO NOT have to have lettering on them. If you want to put lettering on the seat and cannot paint lettering freehand.. as long as the lettering is hand done with an ink or paint pen will be accepted. NO stickers or rub on stencils or cutouts allowed.

Registration for contest opens April 1st, 2010.
Deadline is the last Saturday in JULY. All entries must be in the hands of the coordinator, Karen Black before the end of that day. Please return it with the original box so when it is sold at auction it will have it's box. Any late arrivals will not be judged. Seats will be displayed at the Jolly Trolley until voting time.
